UNDG-ESA technical and team building facilitation of the Namibia UNCT retreat held from 14-16 October 2014. The retreat was framed around the new Development Partnership Framework -2014-2018 (UNPAF) and related Action Plan to support the implementation of the Namibia Fourth National Development Plan-NDP-4. And also, preparing for the UNPAF implementation and strengthening for the Delivering as One (DaO) process. The UN System in Namibia has developed a Business Operations Strategy and are now undertaking Capacity Assessment, and developing Common Resource Mobilization and Communication Strategies for greater coherence.
Brought together about 500 United Nations staff members from Botswana, Angola, Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from 5 - 7 September 2014.
The UN Chief had official talks with President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Hifikepunye Pohamba, development partners, the UN family in Namibia and some Cabinet ministers. During his visit he commended Namibia for wide-ranging liberties in areas such as press freedom, gender equality and environmental protection, amongst others. Ban Ki-moon also inaugurated the UN House in Klein Windhoek.
This high school programme is spearheaded by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Windhoek has been very successful since its inception during 2012. The MUN programme, is an educational simulation in which students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and about the United Nations.

A document called the United Nations Development Partnership Framework (UNPAF) which covers the period of 2014-2018. The UNPAF is the vehicle for strategic partnerships and resource planning which will drive the programmes through which the UN Country Team (UNCT) will support Namibia in the implementation of the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP 4) and the realization of its development goals under Vision 2030.
The United Nations Development Chief discussed Namibia’s vision to bridge livelihood gaps to create income balance with senior government officials. She further drew attention to the allocation and utilization of natural resources for a more diversified economy with H.E President Hifikipunye Pohamba. The cluster ministerial working session with Right Honourable Prime Minister Dr. Hage Geingob elaborated on Namibia’s progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Post 2015 Development Agenda. “Namibia’s voice in the Post 2015 Global Dialogue and the country needs to be supported in fulfilling its objectives as outlined in its National Development Plan 4.
